En-Gender 2025

Annual Online Conference, 21-23 August

Building and Thinking Resistances

This year we are celebrating our 5th consecutive year running the En-Gender Conference and very excited to be able to engage in more and deeper exchanges and connections. We hope to bring back some of our previous presenters to learn how your work has been developing and welcome newcomers that wish to share their knowledge, experience and trajectories.

Following up from last year’s theme, this time we switch the focus to resistances, their development and projections. This includes understandings of communities formed and involved in their creations, international connections, as well as projections into possible resisting futures. This conference promotes an intersectional approach that involves the understanding of complex interactions across multiple relations and contexts. At En-Gender, we maintain the commitment to be a space of respectful and safe conversations and community building across regions and academic areas.

The three days will be divided into

a) Roundtable discussions

Following last year’s success of this style of critical exchange, we decided to bring it back. This section will have short (5 minute) presentations that should be designed to lay the basis of community discussions. The presentations can be based on research as well as more general ideas and questions. This section specifically aims at engaging undergraduate and graduate students as well as scholars from all stages who want to share work and ideas that are still in the making. In addition to presentations, we are also looking for respondents and chairs for the roundtable discussions.

b) Paper presentations

The presentations in the section should be based on individual or collaborative research, have a length of 15-20 minutes and will be structured in thematically fitting panels.

We invite short and long presentations on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Community building across/through resistances
  • Imbrications of local, regional, national and international resistances
  • Theoretical constructions and understandings of resistance
  • Resistance and praxis
  • Gender and resistance
  • Gendered resistance
  • Gender, History and resistance
  • Resistance to anti-gender/right wing movements
  • Resisting futures/resisting for a future

Please fill out this google form until April 30. All presentations can be published as articles in the En-Gender Journal afterwards.

Looking forward to reading your contributions,

Your En-Gender Team.
